Fragments of Hope Ltd. (FoH) is a community-based organization located on the Placencia Peninsula. Our focus is on the restoration of coral reef habitats and advocating for the sustainable management of its associated habitats. Fragments of Hope Corp is now a 501(c)3 public charity. Donors can deduct contributions they make under IRC Section 170(b) (1) (A) (vi). We are also qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
OUR DONOR PROGRAM
Our donors are considered partners and we believe that every partner truly understands the importance of healthy coral reefs. We do not dedicate valuable resources to material benefits for donors. Contributions is automatic and all contributions are dedicated to the actual coral restoration work.
ACROPORA DONOR
Acropora species of corals include the brightly colored staghorn and elkhorn corals. They are important reef-building corals and provide habitat for a wide diversity of marine life. Acropora donors play a vital role in supporting the work of the organization in the same way that Acroporids support coral reefs.
HOW TO BECOME A DONOR?
1. Providing volunteer or in-kind contribution to the work of the organization
2. Yearly donation
HOW DO YOU BENEFIT?
1. The satisfaction that your donation has contributed to more resilient coral reefs for the benefit of Belize
2. The name of long-standing supporters will be acknowledged on the FoH yearly publication in the Placencia Breeze
3. Board of Directors will identify and vet long-standing contributors
DIADEMA DONOR
Diadema antillarum is a long-spined sea urchin that is usually black but sometimes white. They are important herbivores that feed on macroalgae, thus creating an open substrate for coral growth and recruitment. Diadema donors play a vital role in supporting the work of FoH in the same way that Diadema supports coral growth.
HOW TO BECOME A DONOR?
1. A financial contribution of US$2,000-$10,000
HOW DO YOU BENEFIT?
1. The satisfaction that your contribution has contributed to the employment of community leaders involved in coral restoration efforts
2. Your name will be acknowledged on the FoH yearly publication in the Placencia Breeze
3. Your name and/or logo will be featured on publicity tools produced by FoH (website, social media, videos)
4. Invitation (2 persons) for the yearly field expedition to restoration sites
5. Invitation (2 persons) for yearly Coral Mixer
CHRYSURUS DONOR
The yellowtail damselfish (Mycrospathodon chrysurus)is a beautiful and notable inhabitant of healthy coral reefs. They maintain coral territories that provide them with hiding spots, dietary needs, and reproductive areas. They defend their territories and are most aggressive when the quality of their territory is high. Chrysurus donors play a vital role in supporting the work of the organization in a similar way that the yellowtail damsel protects its territory.
